To: The Loyal Customers of Kimmel Scrap Iron & Metal Co.

Thank you for continuing to read our newsletter during this very stressful and difficult time. This month, I have decided to write about some positive aspects of the current slow down in business due to CV19. As Yard Manager, it is my task to ensure that the employees that are at work are being productive. Many times, I have walked by an unsightly area or time-consuming project at our facility and thought, “if only I had time”. Well, now’s the time. Projects such as changing the facility layout for more efficient movement of material and painting/repairing dump hoppers are activities that will allow us to be ready to hit the ground running when economic activities do return to Southeast Michigan.

Even small projects that were easily overlooked a month ago are now important ways to keep our employees busy and add value to the company. Cleaning up garbage around the trash roll-off, trimming trees that had grown up around the perimeter fence line, and fixing minor problems with equipment are great activities help the yard continue to move forward when it seems that the entire world has frozen in place. We all look forward to when life has returned to normal, but the things we do now will help shape how our business looks when that “normal” eventually happens.
