To the Loyal Customers of Kimmel Scrap,

It seems that our summer is almost over, and we begin the slow advance toward fall and then winter. The steel markets have continued to be extremely weak with continued imports of scrap metal from Canada and from Europe. We also continue to receive new steel being shipped circumventing existing tariffs imposed by our government.

Kimmel in the news: On October 9th TJ Yarema was quoted in the Detroit Free Press regarding how lower energy prices both help and hurt our industry. Lower fuel costs allow us to re-invest in equipment but also causes commodity prices to creep downward as well. A link to the article is provided. http://www.freep.com/story/money/business/michigan/2016/10/08/gas-prices-michigan-oil-economy/91622374/

Many of you know Nicole Lamar who has worked with us for many years. Just a little shout out to her on celebrating 25 years with Kimmel Scrap.

Aluminum scrap prices continue to be extremely steady with very little movement either higher or lower. We appear to be in equilibrium for both supply and demand.

A short reminder that October 31st Halloween is fast approaching. Please be extremely vigilant watching out for our children and young adults as they canvas our neighborhood’s collecting candy and sweets.
