To Our Loyal Partners of Kimmel Scrap Iron & Metal Co.

How important is safety? It is the most important aspect of our business, our industry and I bet you too put it at the top of your businesses priorities. No one goes to work expecting to be injured, witness an injury or experience a near miss. The exact opposite is true. We all expect a workplace that is safe but also, a workplace where we look out for each other’s well-being. There is one thing I have learned in my years in the scrap metal recycling industry that I did not necessarily see elsewhere in my work life, this my family away from family, my work family. I see them more than I see my own family. I am obligated to provide my work family the safest possible place of employment. Encourage them to report near misses, unsafe acts, and unsafe conditions. Nothing brings me greater pride when a co-worker brings to my attention the opportunity for an improvement with safety as the focal point. It proves to me they care about their work family too. Let us all take a step back and remind ourselves, our families and our work families how important safety is. After all, it is the men and women who do the jobs that bring the best ideas to light.

Sincerely,

Ken
